To bring great talents to fruition they need careful nurturing.Worrying about money or where the next meal or a place to sleep is coming from stops the creative process dead in its tracks. If we want to make the best use of our human resources we need to create environments where talent can thrive and explore from a position of security. It's a lot like good parenting practice.
So Pod42 launches the Adopt A Talent initiative. We invite both potential talent protégés and adoptive 'parents' to send us their expressions of interest. Pod42 will coordinate and administrate talent selection, support, the distribution of funds and regular reporting to the benefactors. The concept is that we will create special Talent Labs in inspiring locations where talented young scientists and creatives can live together to explore and develop. The Talent Labs will be designed according to environmentally responsible and sustainable guidelines, making best use of local resources and aim for zero waste.
The Talent Labs will work under Creative Commons Licencing policies, so everyone can share in published results while protecting the rights of our teams.
Accommodation and lab resources will be available for free to the selected resident talents, so we need lots of money to kick off the project. In time the project will develop into an economically self-sustaining operation by offering services and products for a fee to the general public, organisations and industry.
Benefactors will receive regular updates on the projects their selected talent is working on. Both once-off and repeat donations are accepted.
Anyone who wants to support the project e.g. by donating (the use of) a suitable venu, property, equipment etc. is most welcome to contact us. Contributions in-kind are much appreciated.
